Setting and achieving goals can seem like a daunting task, but I can help you set SMART goals to help you work smarter and not harder toward your dream life.

Goals can seem overwhelming, if you’re dreaming big. While there’s nothing wrong with dreaming big, a strategy can help make your big goal achievable and less overwhelming. S: Start with a “specific” step to your larger goal. For instance, instead of a goal to “lose weight” you may choose to have your goal be “to lose twenty pounds within a certain period of time”. M: make the specific goal measurable. Instead of saying, “I want to lose weight every week”, choose, “I want to lose one pound per week”. A: Make sure your goal is achievable. If you have been able to lose half of a pound a week in the past, but struggle to lose 1lb per week, make your goal half of a pound over the course of 40 weeks. You’ll stick with your plan if you’re hitting your goals. R: Your goal needs to be relevant. The goal of watching 30 minutes less TV per day may be a great goal in and of itself and may indirectly help foster an environment that is more conducive to losing weight but if you’re trying to lose weight, a more relevant goal may be required. T: The goal should be able to be achieved within a reasonable time frame; one that makes sense and is comfortable for the individual. In our example, 40 weeks for a weight loss of 20lbs defines a time frame for achieving a goal. SMART goals are an excellent tool when working toward goals. A coach can be another great tool to keep you on track and consistently make your goals SMART.
